2023 NFL Mock Draft

Here is the deal, I have no inside man. I do not have sources this just about what I think the team’s biggest needs and availability.

#1 Carolina Panthers (Trade with Chicago Bears)

Bryce Young QB, Alabama

Yesterday there were rumors that the Panthers would take Will Levis out of Kentucky. Young has great instincts and is a natural passer. His size might be what holds him back as he is not the ideal quarterback size. He does give Carolina a franchise quarterback.

#2 Houston Texans

Will Anderson, OLB, Alabama

The Texans are in great shape with whatever they do. They could trade down get more picks for a team that has a lot of holes. They could draft the franchise quarterback here or with them holding the 12th pick they can take one then or wait until next year when a lot of scouts are saying the quarterbacks will even be better next year. So, I Believe they will take the best player available. Will Anderson will give them the pass rusher the Texans need. I would not be surprised if they still trade down though.

#3 Arizona Cardinals

Tyree Wilson DE, Texas Tech

Wilson is fast and has power to push back the offensive line into the quarterbacks. The Cardinals need a pass rusher, and he fits the bill. Here is another team that could trade back for someone that needs a quarterback, but they don’t get the offers that add up, so they stay here.

#4 Indianapolis Colts

Will Levis QB, Kentucky

After all the hype, all the rumors of the Colts trading up they still get the quarterback they want. Will Levis ran a pro-offense at Kentucky. His other strength is his arm strength. Will can run when needed too. His troubles throws hard on short passes. They said that about John Elway too didn’t they?

#5 Seattle Seahawks

Jalen Carter DT, Georgia

There is no way Pete Carroll is going to let him fall any further. He has the talent to be the number 1 pick of the draft. He will help Seattle Defense stop the run. With Seattle drafting Kenneth Walker III they will try and control the clock on both sides of the ball. Carter is force that can jump up on the rush and also move down the lines to stop the run.

#6 Detroit Lions

Devin Witherspoon CB, Illinois

If Carter was available here the lions would take him. Here they get one of the best cornerbacks coming out. He playes bigger than he is listed and has the instincts and athleticism to cover up and mistakes he might make.

#7 Las Vegas Raiders

C.J. Stroud QB, Ohio State

The Raiders did whatever they could do to get rid of Derek Carr at the end of the season. In comes C.J. Stroud a gifted passer that can make any pass. His troubles seem to be at Ohio State was that he did not run the ball well when being pressured. He has the ability to be a franchise quarterback.

#8 Atlanta Falcons

Joey Porter JR CB, Penn State

The Falcons need help on the defensive side of the ball. They really need a outside linebacker but they can address that later. Here they take a top 10 player and a position they need. Porter is a lock down corner. He can take away the jump balls too, and has the feisty attitude to help on the run.

#9 Chicago Bears/Pittsburgh Steelers

Bears trade Down. Pittsburgh Steelers Trade up.

Paris Johnson OT, Ohio State

The Steelers need to protect Kenny Pickett. Heres a trade with the Bears who are looking at offensive line, along with Tennessee Titans, and the New York Jets all picking ahead of the Steelers. Dan Moore and Chukwuma Okorafor struggled last year. Paris Johnson is agile and can play both tackle or guard. One way of improving your offensive line is having a competition. Here the trade they swap first round picks and the bears get the 32nd pick of the draft and a future second rounder.

#10 Philadelphia Eagles

Brian Branch S Alabama

He can play Nickle or Safety. Easy Accelerator who can close on the ball. He will help on the run game. I could also see them take Myles Murphy out of Clemson here, but the Eagles can fill a couple of holes in one pick.

#11 Tennessee Titans

Christian Gonzelez CB, Oregon

With Paris Johnson Jr, off the board the Tennessee Titans will take a cornerback. He could be a pro bowl cover man. Some experts have him as the best cornerback in this draft.

#12 Houston Texans

Broderick Jones OT, Georgia

This is a surprise pick for me here. I was going to go quarterback here. But think about it they still have David Mills at quarterback and they say the position will be better in next year’s draft. Now is the time to build your team to protect your future franchise player. So if you draft Broderick Jones here you move Tytus Howard back to guard.

13 Green Bay Packers ( trade with Jets)

Michael Mayer TE, Notre Dame

The Packers need Safety, OLB, and Tight end help. Michael Meyers fills the tight end spot. he is complete tight end. Meyers will help the run and the pass game for Green Bay. Now for fun they should draft a wide receiver in the first round like Quentin Johnson since they did not do it for Aaron Rodgers.

14 New England Patriots

Quentin Johnston WR, TCU

Quentin Johnston gives New England a playmaker they need. He has traits to get open and catch the ball at the point. He will instantly help Mac Jones. The tough question is how good is Quentin hands.

15 New York Jets (trade with Packers)

Peter Skoronski T/G, Northwestern

Trouble with his arm length has me dropping him to the Jets. They need help at tackle as they need to Aaron Rodgers up on his feet. Skoronski has great technique which will offset that arm length. Injuries real hurt the Jets on the offesive line so going young might help.

16 Washington Commanders

Anthony Richardson QB, Florida

Richardson is very athletic and strong armed. The Commanders need a quarterback sooner than later. This team can compete. So, unless the wheels fall off, they won’t be picking early in the 2024 draft. Taking a chance on a guy that can throw the ball deep and run when needed is a chance they cannot pass up on.

17 Chicago Bears

Lukas Van Ness DE Iowa

There were a couple of times I thought he should go earlier but needs for some teams were put first. Here is a opportunity to attack that terrible pressure that the Bears displayed in 2022. Instant starter for the Bears and got a big need even trading down twice in the draft.

18 Detroit Lions

Drew Sanders LB Arkansas

I like Detroit to take Drew here. On third downs he can rush the passer on the opposite side of Aiden Hutchinson. But otherwise, he can play all over the field. I also could see the Lions taking Dalton Kincaid here to take pressure off the wide receiver. But again, I went needs with sanders helping on the run and putting pressure on the other side.

19 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Bijan Robinson RB Texas

Tampa Bay Tom Brady less Buccaneers need a lot. But there going to take the best player available and that is Bijon Robinson. The Buccaneers need all offensive line help, quarterback, and safety. After drafting Kyle Trask with the 64th pick in 2021 they will see what he can do. Bijan will help take the load of Trask. Now Tampa can attack the other positions in the rest of the draft. If Trasks fails, then they will be up early in the 2024 draft to get a quarterback.

20 Seattle Seahawks

O’Cyrus Torrence G Florida

Seattle will continue to move the ball on the ground and having this guy blocking Infront of Kenneth Walker III will help explode him to elite running backs in the league. To me he is the best guard on the board

21 Los Angeles Chargers

Cam Smith CB South Carolina

Smith has patience and movement skill that could challenge for starter position right now. Cam has good size to compete with the receivers in the league.

22 Baltimore Ravens

Jordan Addison WR USC

The Ravens need receivers. Addison is a great route runner and knows how to get open. He will really help the Ravens keep the ball moving whoever is passing him the ball.

23 Minnesota Vikings

Zay Flowers WR Boston College

Minnesota needs defensive help but they also need a future quarterback. In that case the Minnsota Viking will draft Zay Flowers. Makes no sense, right? Flowers can play slot which will help after they cut Theilen. That would mean in three wide set the defense would have to match up against Justin Jefferson, K.J. Osborn, and Zay Flowers. Try and stop it. Oh wait they still have Kirk Cousins.

24 Jacksonville Jaguars

Kelee Ringo CB Georgia

Ringo has the physical tools to play man to man. He can move to nickel if needed. The Jaguars need cornerback depth and this will help there.

25 New York Giants

Jaxon Smith-Njigba WR Ohio State

The Giants have been looking for a pass catching wide receiver and here he is. He is technical receiver. His only problem might come as injury prone in 2022.

26 Dallas Cowboys

Dalton Kincaid TE Utah

A good pass catching tight end. He will open up the wide receivers with his down the field catching tight end. He is not as good as a blocker as Michael Mayer. Dak should be able to pick who he is going to throw too again with Cee Dee Lamb and Michael Gallup another year away from torn ACL.

27 Buffalo Bills

Jahmyr Gibbs RB Alabama

He has game breaking speed and can catch the ball out of the backfield. In Buffalo offensive scheme he should be a perfect fit.

28 Cincinnati Bengals

Deonte Banks CB Maryland

Deonte will strengthen the cornerback position for the Bengals. Also, with Chidobe Awuzie injury good to have a backup plan because Eli Apple struggled at time and last year Rookie Cam Taylor Britt was inconsistent.

29 New Orleans Saints

Myles Murphy DE Clemson

Saints would come out with a steal. Not only can he put pressure on the quarterbacks he also can stop the run. With Cameron Jordan turning 34 this year and Marcus Davenport gone they need to get a defensive end for the future, and it is Myles Murphy.

30 Philadelphia Eagles

Bryan Bresee DT Clemson

Had injury plagued season last year at Clemson. But early in the season he showed what he can do healthy.

31 Kansas City Chiefs

Jalin Hyatt WR Tennessee

Patrick Mahomes gets his deep threat. The Chiefs Wides will be Valdes-Scantling, Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, and Jalin Hyatt. That will be tough to stop.

Well let’s see if we get some right.
